What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device to remember information about your visit. "Similar technologies" include local storage, pixels, and software development kits that perform comparable functions. We use the word "cookies" in this policy to cover all of them.
Cookies can be first-party (set by limen.io) or third-party (set by a provider such as Google or PostHog), and either session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (which remain for a set period). Some of the preferences we store, such as your consent choice, are kept in your browser's local storage rather than in a cookie, but we treat them here the same way.
How we categorise the cookies we use
We group the technologies we use into three categories.
Strictly necessary. These make the Website work and remember your privacy choices, so they cannot be switched off through the banner. They include the record of your consent decision and PostHog's opt-out flag. Under the ePrivacy rules they do not require consent, and we rely on our legitimate interests (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) for the limited data involved.
Analytics (Google Analytics 4). These help us understand aggregate traffic, which pages are read, how visitors arrive, and how the Website performs, using pseudonymous identifiers. They are set only with your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).
Product analytics (PostHog). These help us understand how the Website is actually used at the interface level through autocapture of clicks, navigation and form submissions, so we can improve it. PostHog assigns a pseudonymous distinct ID and captures event and device metadata; we do not enable session replay on the Website. These are set only with your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).

Google Analytics 4 and Consent Mode v2
Google Analytics 4 is provided by Google and gives us aggregate, pseudonymous statistics about how the Website is used. It sets the _ga and _ga_* cookies described above and processes data such as a truncated IP address, device and browser information, and the pages you view.
We implement Google Consent Mode v2: until you accept analytics cookies, Google's analytics storage is set to "denied," and advertising storage, ad-user-data and ad-personalisation remain "denied" at all times, we do not use Google for advertising. You can learn how Google uses data at its own privacy pages, and you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to prevent GA4 measurement across all sites.
PostHog: product analytics and autocapture
PostHog is our product-analytics platform. With your consent, it assigns a pseudonymous distinct ID (stored in the ph_* cookie) and captures product events, including autocapture of interface interactions such as clicks, navigation and form submissions, along with session and device metadata. This tells us which parts of the Website are useful and where visitors get stuck.
PostHog is configured for product analytics only; we do not enable full session replay of your screen on the Website. If you decline or withdraw consent, PostHog capture is turned off and its opt-out flag is set. PostHog data is hosted in the United States, and international transfers are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses (see our
Privacy Policy).
Managing your consent
When you first visit the Website, our cookie-consent banner asks whether you accept non-essential analytics cookies. Analytics tools do not run until you accept, and your choice is stored so we do not ask again on every page.
To change or withdraw your consent at any time, reopen the cookie preferences from the banner or the link in our footer and update your choice, or clear the Website's cookies and local storage in your browser (which resets the banner on your next visit). Withdrawing consent stops future analytics collection; it does not retroactively delete data already collected, which you can request separately by writing to
hello@limensystems.com.
Browser and device controls
Most browsers let you view, block, and delete cookies through their settings, and can be set to warn you before a cookie is stored or to reject third-party cookies entirely. The steps differ by browser, check the help pages for Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge.
Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the Website from working correctly, including our ability to remember that you declined analytics.
Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC). If your browser or an extension sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid instruction to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (of which we do none) and as a signal to keep non-essential analytics off.
There is no single, agreed technical standard for browser Do Not Track (DNT) signals, so, like most operators, we cannot commit to responding uniformly to DNT. We instead rely on our consent banner and on GPC, which does have a defined standard, to give you clear and honoured control.
Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as our tools or the law change. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above, and any new non-essential cookies will be added to the table and gated behind consent before they are set.
